Five Amazing Sofas

Here are a pick of 5 amazing sofas that offer ideas, concepts, style and so much more.

The mix of fashion and design with a statement of what you and your home or office is about often comes from your choice of sofa.

Many of the below can be purchased but some are prototypes from new designers with some great ideas.

First lets start with a prototype from designer Daniel Becker from Germany.

The Hunting Lines 2 seat sofa has strong lines with a what looks like a glowing yellow line contrasting again the soft black.

One of the main features to this sofa is the fact that putting multi sofas together expands the seating area and create great lines within a home or office.

From the Daniel Becker prototype to no other than one of the most famous sofa brands in the world, yes B&B Italia.

I could with ease list just 5 B&B italia sofas on this blog post but this time only one gets on this list.

Designed by Patricia Urquiola whom has designed for B&B Italia, Bosa, De Vecchi, Fasem, Kartell, Liv’it, MDF Italia, Molteni & C., Moroso and Tronconi plus many more.

The Tutfy Time has been selected due to the mix of square and straight lines with super soft corners and edges is a perfect mix of uniformity and comfort.

Being modular it fits in any space from a large 1 seat sofa to as large a composition as you'd like.

Looking for some natural elements in your living room ? Well the Neo livingstones will meet your needs..

These giant stones and pebbles make up configurations of sofas for both indoor and outdoor use.

These elements really look like stone and pebbles and of course will create and eye catching focal point to any living space.

Maybe its the child in me that just wants to run and jump onto the Neo Livingstones from Smarin.
I think you could have so much fun with these sofa's in a modern space with strong lines with the livingstones offering the natural element into a room.

From stones to pixels..

Its hard to pick just one of the sofas designs from Moroso as it has so many epic designs.

Moroso are famed for so many designs that include the likes of the Victoria and Albert and
Alessandra Armchair in cow style black and white patch fabric.

The pictured pixel sofa is again this typical Moroso idea of a mix of color design and texture. Bland is not a word you can use when talking about Moroso.

With some of the world top designers such as Ron Arad, Carlo Colombo, Enrico Franzolini, Marc Newson, Toshiyuki Kita and Patricia Urquiola you are of course exposed to so many ideas and designs.

Designers Andrea Fino and Samanta Snidaro have created the Velvet sofa for Sand and Birch design Italy.

The name of course gives away the use of velvet to upholster this sofa. It looks like and spring and strong, even harsh and uncomfortable to sit on but taking a closer look you can see the super soft velvet which omits comfort. The contradiction between its spring like form and soft texture is what makes this sofa stand out.

This is typical of Italian furniture challenging shape and form along with texture and finish.

Hgtv Green House

Go green with hgtv green house

During the building time of HGTV green homes, a number of factors were emphasized and kept in mind. These targeted areas were sustainable site, energy and atmosphere, innovation and design, location and linkages, awareness and education, indoor environmental quality and materials and resources. In the hgtv green homes, it was seen that how much is the sustainability of the house. The aim to build the home is to make it energy efficient so that the residents can maintain good health. While planning, two things were kept in mind.

Hgtv Dream House: Kitchen

First being the integrated project planning. In this, the energy experts, designers, and construction specialists work together so that the approach towards the project can be kept comprehensive.

Hgtv Dream House: Green Style

Second step is the durability planning. Here all the issues that deal with the durability of the home are dealt with. These issues need to be taken during the construction of the house. The durability of the design is increased by controlling the growth of pests and the water level outside and inside the house.

Hgtv Dream House: Green House

Green homes are the perfect hgtv dream house where you can enjoy life at its best. Sustainable homes are the perfect options for a greener future where you can save your resources and make them available to the further generations. Everything that is useful to you should be available in the vicinity to your green home so that you do not have to face any inconvenience. This idea works perfectly well for the people who are concerned about the future of the energy resources.

Clip Art Books For Your Creative Adventures

Dover's collection of clip art books has seen some improvements over the years. They now almost exclusively include a CD of all of the images so they are ready for use. Some of my older Dover books do not include CDs, making their use a bit tedious. Dover also began doing full color books for certain publications.

These are some of my favorites for black and white line drawings, hotlinked to Dover's site.

Dover also carries a line of books with full color and vector images that can be resized. The Pictura series are extremely detailed and useful for even large scale projects.

Pictura includes books of design and art from most of the world's cultures and detailed books of buterflies, flowers, insects and various art styles.

Old world luxury home design, Clive Christian

Clive Christian is probably more well known for being the company that sells the world's most expensive bottle of perfume.

They also have a reputation for high end cabinetry based home interiors.

Most of their designs are based off of old world designs but done with a modern cabinetry layout scheme.

Something of note with most of their designs is that they incorporate three elements. Crystal chandeliers, lots of wood molding and mirrors. When you break that down these are relatively inexpensive materials available at any big box home improvement store.

Crown molding either stained or painted to match the walls is a fairly easy project even a beginner could tackle. Basic cabinets could benefit from added crown or base moldings stained to match. Front molding and finials are also readily available and could be added to the front of cabinet bases or open shelving. Crystal chandeliers can frequently be found at garage sales, flea markets and house fixture reuse stores. Walls can benefit from frames made of molding that are mounted to the wall. When doing so on a painted wall, painting the frames to match makes them look built in. The bedroom pictured could be mimicked using a love seat and two wardrobes. A used hotel furniture warehouse would be an idea source for a pair of matching wardrobes or armoires. The heavy use of mirrors is another features that is relatively easy to recreate. Standard unframed mirrors from a big box home improvement store could be installed on the wall and framed out with the finish moldings to blend into the wall.

Kitchen and conservatory, Practical Magic.

Sometimes the best part of a movie is the sets or the costuming. Over the years as we have searched for our perfect house I have had at least two requests, a large kitchen and a conservatory.

The house sets in the movie Practical Magic are wonderful examples of just that. Sadly, there was no real house used in the movie. It was all well conceived sets and a temporary facade.

The huge kitchen set from the movie. They never make kitchens big enough in real life.
